Assemble at Valley of Lagoons vicinity of BobTail’s Last Camp. Retrace Leichhardt’s route to Pinnacle Creek (Torwood Station) via Burdekin River, Leichhardt and Anthill Creeks and the Lynd River. All named by Leichhardt. Then transfer to Chillagoe from Arrowroot Camp. Depart from Chillagoe for Cairns / Mareeba

Assemble at Queens Birthday Camp (on Sundown Station). Continue along the Lynd River, noting landmarks named by Leichhardt to Pinnacle creek, site of Arrowroot Camp. Transfer to Chillagoe for one night of cabin accommodation and celebratory dinner. Side tours to marble mines and limestone caves( Not included in fare). Return to Cairns via Mareeba

Assemble at Mount Garnet (Tabo). Retrace Kennedy’s route along Reid’s, Emu Creeks and Walsh River, via Nymbool, Emuford, Long Waterhole and Featherbed Ranges and Caldera complexes. Finish in vicinity of Camp KXLII. Transfer to Chillagoe overnight for sightseeing and celebratory dinner. Transfer from Chillagoe for Cairns/ Mareeba.

Challenging.
Isolated area with long days,
rocky sections, hot and dry conditions.
Several wet creek and river crossings.

24 Days

Including transfers to/from Cairns.

Authentic and accurate retrace of original 1848 route from Camps XXIX to XLII.

Conducted in two sections: one of 8 days,
one of 14 days. Retraces the route taken by explorer
Edmund Kennedy taken to explore Cape York in 1848.
Only three of the party survived being Jackie Jackie,
William Carron and William Goddard.
Kennedy was speared and seven died of starvation
in the vicinity of Iron Range.

Possible 10-day trek, mid year, Traverse permissions pending. From vicinity of Puckleys Creek Police Camp to Maytown via Hell's Gate and Douglas Track. Overnight in Cooktown, Assemble in Cooktown, Connections from/ to Port Douglas and Cairns included. Return via Laura. Extensive rock art galleries throughout the area.

Extremely isolated area, steep rocky escarpments, long days and hot conditions.

12 days

Tranverses the entire length of the Douglas track from Puckleys Creek to Maytown. Extensive rock art galleries in the area. around Deighten River and Hells Gates. Pass through the infamous Hells Gates.

Connections to Cooktown by arrangement. Scheduled bus service exists. Finish at Maytown. Transfers to Mount Molloy/ Port Douglas/ Cairns by arrangement.

Malanda Hotel is the largest wooden Building in Queensland, Constructed to satisfy demands of the newly constructed Malanda railway in 1912.

End of Season. Due to expected seasonal conditions Wilderness expeditions will pause trekking operations and engage in annual donkey depot maintenance tasks from 18 October 2016. Trekking operations are planned to continue from mid March 2017 depending on wet season conditions.
