Wild River Ramble
The Wild River Ramble is a two-day walk following the Wild River. We walk along cattle and brumby pads, winding through impressive “old man” Forest Red Gums.
There are opportunities to observe platypus along the river and at the campsite. The bird list for this area is more than 120 species. This trek is suitable for family groups and children of 9 years and older.
Two days, one night camping, fully guided by an experienced donkey packer. Pack donkeys carry your luggage, food and camping gear.
We will make camp in time for a late lunch leaving the afternoon free to explore, observe some birds and generally relax. Have a swim before dinner or enjoy a hot shower amongst the Casuarina trees using a traditional shower bucket.
A tasty dinner is cooked over an open fire using traditional a Bedourie camp oven and served with a glass or two of wine. Sleep under the stars on a bed, in an insect proof “Mossie Dome”.
The following morning, after a cooked breakfast of bacon and muffins, take a short walk to gain an understanding of local geology, history and ecology of the area. Then repack your companion donkey and return via the same route with lunch along the track.
